Ortho Bionomy

Overview

Recognized by the B.C. College of Massage Therapists, Ortho-Bionomy® is an osteopathic-based form of manual therapy used to improve musculoskeletal health and function. Referred to as “the correct application of the laws of life”, Ortho-bionomy techniques employ subtle pressure, gentle movement, deep relaxation, and comfortable positioning to engage the body’s self-corrective reflexes and bring structure back into alignment.

Developed in 1976 by Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, ortho-bionomy combines structural principles of osteopathy with energetic and philosophical concepts of martial arts and homeopathy. This technique has been incorporated into many treatment practices including massage therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, and chiropractic.

Benefits

Ortho-Bionomy is used to treat a variety of chronic health problems and acute injuries such as whiplash, headaches, back pain, stress, postural and structural imbalances, and emotional symptoms which stem from these conditions. By loosening tight muscles around restricted areas, treatments increase range of motion, improve balance, circulation, mobility, and emotional mindset. Once areas are activated, rhythmic motions and integrative exercises are often used to help re-educate the body and reinforce the work. Clients remain fully clothed during treatment.
